Vera Rutherford Abbott, beloved Nanny, of Powell, TX passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2020 at the age of 83 with dignity, grace, and freshly done hair. She is survived by daughter, Donna Simmons of Powell, grandson Chris Simmons and wife Amanda, granddaughter Heather Spell and husband Jeremy, great-grandsons Ryan and Colin Spell, great-granddaughters Evelyn Spell, Faith and Brianna Boyte, and sisters Peggy Joan McClendon and Vivian Lowe of Corsicana, as well as, many well loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dear Donna (childhood neighbor and friend),
One summer evening, your mom and dad were sitting out in lawn chairs visiting friends and having homemade ice cream, the kids were out playing Hide & Seek. Your mom allowed me to hide under her lawn chair while she held the newspaper in front of her knees, and I was the last to be found and winner of the game. She always made me feel special and her laughter and smile can be heard and seen with that beautiful hair always fixed and in place. Your mom & dad spent time taking us to have fun with archery and allowed us to ride on the back bumper of truck in the pasture on the way to our shooting destination. Through the years, your mom kept me informed about you and the grandkids who she loved so much and so proud to show pictures and share stories when I would go by to visit her at Harvies. She loved her family and was a hard-working lady who provided for her family. She will be missed but her sweet spirit, care, and love for others will always be remembered. Praying for you and family. Love Ronald & Melinda, Rick & Bonnie, and Clyde Smith
