Lelia Owen Hamilton went to be with Our Lord Sunday September 13, 2020. Lelia was born in Kerens, Texas, on April 18th, 1920. She was a graduate of Southern Methodist University beginning her education there at age 16. She was an active and lifelong Presbyterian and devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian church for her entire life, serving as a Deacon and as an Elder. She married Robert Leroy Hamilton in December of 1942.

She and her husband Robert established Hamilton House Interiors which was located in the historic Pace home in Corsicana. She and Robert shared their love of designing and acquiring furnishings from Europe and the States to decorate special homes in Texas and beyond.

Lelia's love of beauty was evident in everything she did in life. She delighted in entertaining in their home and at her ancestral farmhouse in East Texas. Her gourmet cooking and gardening were also her avocations.

Her biggest joy was her family and her many friends that she considered to be her earthly treasures. Her life was truly lived as a tribute to the Presbyterian Catechism, to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Dale Owen and Orlena Daniel Owen and her beloved Robert Hamilton to whom she was married for 57 joyous years.

She is survived by her daughters Lelia Dale and husband Henry Lamb Richter of Columbus, Ohio, and grandson Henry Hamilton Richter and wife Karrie Madison of Columbus, Ohio, her daughter Elizabeth Orlena and husband John Gregory Gallagher of Shelby, North Carolina, and grandsons Robert Gregory Gallagher and wife Criselda Roque Gallagher of Dallas, Texas, and John Owen Gallagher of Shelby, North Carolina, her Goddaughter Elizabeth Ann and husband Jerry Glaspy of Ennis, Texas, and her many, many treasured friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana, Texas,on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 10:00AM in celebration of her life as a witness to the Resurrection. Rev. Kathy Sims Collier will be officiating.

Gretchen and I were welcomed into their home by Robert and Lelia shortly after we arrived in Corsicana. They both were such kind and supportive church members as I pastored at Westminster. We cherished their friendship. Following Robert's death, Lelia remained a dear friend to us. I shall remember my pastoral visits with her. Her concerns were seldom focused on herself as she was sincerely concerned about the health and welfare of others. We rejoice that her strong faith in her Lord and savior Jesus Christ has received its reward. We send our sincere condolences to Dale and Betsy and their families.

Mrs. Hamilton was my biggest cheerleader on my walks and runs around the neighborhood. Stopping in to her home for a cup of water and a visit with she and Maria and Christopher at the end of my runs was such a joy, and I will miss her terribly. How fortunate we all are to have known and loved her! My deepest condolences to the family.

Dear Betsy & Dale, You are in our prayers. Your mother was so dear and special. She meant so much to us and to our father. With deepest sympathy.

I had the good fortune of seeing Lelia on occasion at my job before my retirement. She was always such a sweet & gracious lady. God called an angel home.
