Mrs. Patricia Dupre Hanchey Granger, 69, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She was born in Washington, St. Landry Parish on August 30, 1950 to Gussie and Irene Dupre.

She won many pageant titles and in 1969 became Miss Louisiana USA. In Miami Beach, she competed for Miss USA on CBS Television before her career in morning TV.

In the late 1980’s, Pat Hanchey anchored Louisiana’s top-rated morning television program “2une-In” in Baton Rouge helping pioneer the use of mobile satellite technology to broadcast live shows from communities across Louisiana and Mississippi. With her cohost Leo Honeycutt in cooperation with ABC’s Good Morning America, Pat Hanchey became first to broadcast from Graceland, Elvis Presley’s estate in Memphis on the tenth anniversary of the icon’s death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Gussie Dupre, sister Kim Fontenot and nephew Jeffrey Rutland.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Terry Wayne Granger of Corsicana, Texas; daughters, Dana Lea Gore and husband Elmo Gore of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Cady Michelle Sunsdahl and husband Major Jared Sunsdahl of West Point Military Academy, New York; stepson, John Hanchey of Baton Rouge LA; sister, Connie Rutland and husband Pepper of Baton Rouge, LA with niece Kennan and husband Jonathan Bruser; nephew, Michael; brother, Wayne Dupre and wife Faye of Pt. Barre, Louisiana with Gus Dupre and wife Augusta and niece Windy of Austin, Texas; granddaughters, Madison, Maegan and Rebekah Sunsdahl, Arlee and Avery; grandson, Caleb Gore; step-daughter Lori Granger Baugh and husband Jason with grandchildren Lucas, Landry, Amelia and Brendon all of Denton, TX; nephews, Derrick Fontenot and wife Erin, Jordan, and Harley Fontenot and wife Madeline all of LA.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00pm Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Corley Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2:00pm in the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steven Bell officiating.

To the Granger Family:
May the comfort from family and friends continue to strengthen you during this difficult time, and may you find comfort in the words found in the last book of the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

Pat Dupre as I always called her. Coming from a tight/close class of 1968 every person that leaves us is a true loss. I just so happened to be listening to a song "You'll Never Walk Alone", Some of the lyrics, As you walk through the storm, hold your head up high". And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of the storm is a golden sky Well Pat Dupre has walked in and through the storm of life She just came to the end of her storm earlier that most. But I do believe that Pat did not walk alone, She had her Lord and now she will be welcomed with open arms into eternal salvation leaving all of the worldly hurt, sickness behind. Love ya Pat Dupre.

My Dear Sister/Friend, Pat. For the last 15 some odd years we have shared secrets, travels, much laughter and more love than I can explain. I feel so honored and blessed to have been a part of your life journey. I will so miss our Monday night Bible studies with Terry and Dan, our hours of competitive SkipBo games, and our uncanny way of knowing when to call and when we just needed a hug with the assurance that everything would be ok. My loss is great but I know your joy is greater. Until we meet again, I will pray for your family’s healing.
