Geline Conner Benfield was born September 6, 1927 to Curtis Melvin Conner and Zella Marcie Conner in Corsicana. She was the oldest of 7 children. Two of her sisters died soon after their births. Buddy, Leslie, Johnny and Sue followed. Sue was killed in an airplane accident when she was 6.
Geline grew up with an aunt who was only one year older. Betty and Geline were inseparable throughout their childhood, teenage and young adult years. After World War II, they married brothers. Geline married Nathan Ray Benfield on June 1, 1946. They were marred for 72 years until Nathan passed away August 16, 2017. They shared a deep love for each other.
Nathan and Geline had two children, Pamela Jo and Garry Lynn. Geline was a homemaker for much of her life, though she did work as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and on the production line for Haggard Slacks. She was active in the lives of her children by serving as an officer in the PTA, teaching Sunday School, girl scouts, boy scouts, Acteens, watching Pam tear up the water on skis and rooting loudly as Garry competed on horses. She made thousands of pimento cheese and chicken salad sandwiches.
After her children were raised, Nathan and Geline enjoyed camping in their RV, square dancing, and traveling the country building churches with the Volunteer Christian Builders. For the last 5 years she has enjoyed living with her daughter, Pam, doing crossword puzzles, playing games on her phone, reading her Bible, and watching documentaries and reality shows on television. She has watched every Bachelor and Bachelorette.
Geline was preceded in death by her two infant sisters, her father Curtis, her young sister Sue, her mother Zella, brothers Buddy, Leslie and Johnny, her son-in-law Sonny and her loving husband Nathan Ray. She is survived by her daughter Pam, son Garry (Suzanne), grandchildren Mitzi (Dwayne), Sandi, Nathan Andrew (Malarie), and Hannah. She has 6 great-grandchildren-Taylor, Hayden. Emily, Kennedy, Addie, Cooper and 3 great-great-grandchildren- Kinsley, Briggs, and Harper.
Geline was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandparent. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service for Geline will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery at 11:00AM with Dr. Danny Reeves and Garry Benfield officiating.

Pam & Gary (and families),
I was very sorry to read of your Mom's passing. She and your Dad were such an important part of my childhood. We shared many good times – FBC, fishing, birthday parties, VBS, …. We were all so blessed.
Please know that Guy and I are remembering you all.
Ailsa & Guy

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
