Our dear, sweet Karyn succumbed to the complications of ALS at 49 years young on Tuesday,
January 22, 2019. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Although our hearts
are broken and we mourn the loss of our beloved Karyn, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is
in the arms of our Lord and is no longer in pain and suffering.
Karyn married her soul mate and life partner, Stephen Power in 2004. Their love and devotion
to each other was evident to those who were blessed to witness it. She loved working at a
family law practice in Fort Worth as a law assistant and felt it was her true calling to assist
families going through a particularly tough time in their lives with understanding and
She was born on March 11, 1969 in Coalinga, California and moved to Texas in 1980 with her
family. She considered herself a true Texan and absolutely loved the Dallas Stars and Dallas
Cowboys. Her laughter was infectious and she had a wonderful sense of humor, always with a
twinkle in her eye. She found joy near and far and loved family/friend get-togethers where she
often stood in the kitchen preparing sumptuous meals. She was known for her culinary and
baking skills and showed her love by feeding "everyone."
Her love of animals was a tremendous source of joy. Her furry babies were so loved and
adored by her and Stephen. She was looking forward to seeing her furry babies who preceded
her in death at the Rainbow Bridge.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Power of Corsicana, Texas; her beloved parents, Steve
and Yolanda Singleton of Corsicana, Texas; her "special" mom, Helen Gillum of Hanford,
California; her brother, Jeffrey Gillum of Hanford, California, her sister, Jennifer Gillum
Huddleston of Laton, California; her aunt/godmother, Gilda Proffitt and uncle, Bill Murtha of
Fort Worth, Texas, her uncle, Patrick Moya of Fort Worth, Texas; her aunt, Joyce Deegan Young
of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, numerous cousins and loving friends and her cherished furry
children, Angus and Chloe.
